Steve Marshall, Ed.D.

Instructor

Dr. Steve Marshall has a B.S. in History Education, a M.Ed. in Social Science Education, and an Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership. His passion is secondary education and Dr. Marshall is currently a high school social studies teacher at Manatee School for the Arts in Palmetto, Florida, and serves as the Department Head of Social Studies, along with serving as a peer coach for beginning teachers and working on school improvement initiatives through the SACS-CASI Leadership Team. In 2008, Dr. Marshall was the Manatee County Social Studies Teacher of the Year. His areas of expertise include assessment/evaluation methods and teaching through arts-infusion, multiple intelligences, and experiential learning methods. Dr. Marshall has developed a unique Florida history program where students experience the real Florida through nature, local history projects, and arts-infused projects, such as documenting field experiences through art, theatre, and oral history projects. Primary sources come to life as students follow the historical trails whether it is following 18th century naturalist William Bartram through Paynes Prairie or kayaking down the Little Manatee River to find Juan Ortiz (Florida’s Pocahontas story).
