Luanne Finley

Luanne Finley is a 26 year veteran educator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in K-8 Elementary Education, a Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling, a Master of Education in History Secondary Education and a Rank I in Special Education. Over the past three decades she has taught from primary grades to high school seniors. Current employed as the college counselor at Lawrence County High School in Kentucky she has served as a teacher mentor with Kentucky’s Teacher Internship (KTIP) Program helping first year teachers navigate curriculum and employ successful teaching strategies. Her academic and career interests include the topics of rural poverty and first generation college students. She works both professionally and personally to facilitate the transition of first generation students to post secondary educational settings and to serve as a mentor for these students while they earn their degrees.

 

In addition to her duties as counselor Mrs. Finley serves on the School Instructional Leadership team, the School Leadership Team, and works very closely with College and Career Readiness Standards. She is a member of the Diederich Trust Scholarship Advisory Board, the Advisory Council for Morehead State University/Ashland Campus, the Kentucky School Counselor Association and the Kentucky Association of College Admissions Counselors. She has twice been named the North East Kentucky Counseling Association Counselor of the Year.
