Susan Aten earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University, Sacramento in Liberal Studies and Mathematics, and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Mathematics from the University of Phoenix. She is credentialed in both California and Florida to teach secondary mathematics. She is currently pursuing an EDD in Curriculum and Teaching. She was recently awarded a Foundation grant in order to design and implement an interactive video curriculum for use in online, hybrid, and flipped courses. She has taught 5th grade through college mathematics. She has taught in a diverse area of California, and currently teaches at Seminole State College of Florida. She was an assistant instructor and tutor for 9 years prior to teaching in California. She has extensive training in math and science as well as a background in art and theatre. She believes that there is no “one size fits all” approach to education and that students should be encouraged to explore many different strategies for learning, and that all students should be given the opportunity to experience enriching activities so that they may have the opportunity to excel.
