Alternative Teacher
Certification Program

TeacherReady® is an online alternative teacher certification program. TeacherReady is the state-approved Educator Preparation Institute of the University of West Florida’s
NCATE accredited Professional Education Unit. Teacher Candidates will learn valuable
theoretical and conceptual knowledge of teaching and have an opportunity to apply
this knowledge in the classroom through field experiences.

Admissions

TeacherReady® accepts applications year-round. Applications received are reviewed for pre-acceptance within a week of submission.

REQUIREMENTS

TeacherReady® Applicants Must Have:

  1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5.

If you are not a United States citizen, you may not be eligible for your Florida Professional Teaching Certificate.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Application Process for Admission to the TeacherReady® Program

STEP 1: SUBMIT A COMPLETED APPLICATION PACKET:

  1. A completed online application. Please note that the online application must be complete within one setting.  TeacherReady Application
  2. Send an unofficial copy of your college transcripts that list the bachelor’s degree awarded and your final GPA.

    • Mail to: TeacherReady, 350 West Cedar Street, Suite 300; Pensacola, Florida 32502
  3. Submit your $30 non-refundable application fee. Pay Online or call 850.898.3949 to make a phone payment.

STEP 2: FORMAL ACCEPTANCE DECISION.

Once your application, transcripts, and application fee have been received, your application packet will be reviewed for final acceptance. Upon final review, formal acceptance letters will be sent via email. The acceptance letter will include the additional steps that must be completed before the start of the cohort.
