Bio and Teacher Training:
I have enjoyed teaching elementary education now for 13 years. In that time I have also worked as a Literacy coach. My personal passion lies with teaching students to read and write, as I believe these skills open them up to so many possibilities they might not otherwise experience. Through my work as a Literacy coach, I have really grown to love working with teachers to support and grow their instruction across different areas of content, making their lessons more engaging and purposeful for their students. I have taught most grade levels from first to sixth grade in Pennsylvania and Florida as well as being involved with many great professional associations. I have served as past president of the Escambia County Literacy Teachers Association, am a founding member of the Northwest Florida National Writing Project, and am a member of the International Literacy Association.

Teaching in both states, I have hosted and mentored pre-service teachers from local universities, which initially sparked my love for working with adult learners, although I always stay focused on why we teach: the students. No matter what group of learners I am working with, it all comes down to the type and level of instruction the students receive. I have been challenged by many great educators over the years, many I now consider colleagues, and it was those teachers who inspired me to do what is best for children.
