Bio and Teacher Training:
In addition to instructing with the TeacherReady Online Teacher Certification Program, I have served as an elementary educator for the past thirteen years. My experience includes an array of demographic and geographic areas, teaching all elementary grade levels, except fourth, as well as serving as the grade level inclusion teacher for many years. I have taught in both urban and rural poverty areas, as well as more affluent communities in the Southeast, Midwest, and Southwest.  Throughout my career I have served in several professional leadership positions, including teacher advisor to the superintendent, Common Core Curriculum Team leader, School Leadership Team, and Grade Level Facilitator.  I am an Alabama Math, Science and Technology Institute (AMSTI) trained teacher and have also been a trainer for the Mastering Math Facts program.  I have been recognized as the Alfa Insurance Teacher of the Year and by Congressman Jo Bonner (AL) for shaping future community leaders.  I have also been honored as the recipient of the Golden Mouse Award from TeacherReady.  When given the opportunity to join the TeacherReady faculty I was both honored and excited!  I truly feel that the curriculum and education provided by TeacherReady has no equal, and I am proud to be part of this team, growing strong and confident educators. I currently teach Alignment of Learning Targets and Standards, and Alignment of Learning Tasks and Feedback Strategies, but have taught the other courses in previous years.

On a personal note, I am originally from the Alabama Gulf Coast and now live in southern Arizona.  My husband, Kevin, and I have been married for thirteen years and have three boys, ages 4, 2, and 1.  Additionally, I own and operate a Christian preschool.  I am passionate about my students building strong academic foundations through play and social interaction.  When not teaching or mothering, I enjoy being outdoors, reading, or digital scrap booking. Remaining passionate about teaching my students to be lifelong learners, and reach their potential, is my utmost aspiration.
