Jan served as an educator in Mobile and Baldwin County School Systems in Alabama for 37 years. She was a classroom teacher, special education teacher, assistant principal and principal. Jan retired as a principal at Daphne Elementary School in 2012 which is in the Baldwin County School System. She holds an Alabama teaching certificate for elementary education, special education and administration. Jan has also served as Vice President, President-elect, and President of the Alabama Association of Elementary School Principals, as well as a Board of Directors member for the Council of Leaders of Alabama Schools. Previously, Jan served on the Resolution Committee at the national level in the National Education Association of Elementary Principals. Jan joined TeacherReady in 2012 as an instructor/advisor. She feels strongly that the success of the children depends on high expectations. Children learn best when they are in a learning environment that has been shaped by developmentally appropriate practices to prepare them for this fast-changing and complex world.
