Dr. Janet PilcherCo-Creator of TeacherReady and Executive Leader of Studer Education

    Dr. Pilcher is the Executive Leader and creator of the education division of Studer Group. She leads a team who works with higher education and K12 school system leaders to apply an Evidence-Based Leadership framework to create a culture of change and accountability. Dr. Pilcher began her education career as a high school math teacher and tennis coach. She joined the faculty at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida, in 1992 where she served as professor, associate dean and then dean of the College of Professional Studies. During her 19 year tenure at the University, Dr. Pilcher’s accomplishments included:

    • Led faculty to develop online programs that today are some of the largest programs on campus.
    • Collaborated with faculty and graduate students to design a number of state-of-the art technology products, including The Lesson ArchitectTM, TeacherReady®, and Just Ask Andie!TM professional development series. With co-inventor Dr. Robin Largue, TeacherReady® has become a premier virtual program that prepares second career teachers who live all over the world. Currently the program enrolls teachers in all 50 states and 95 countries, offering them an opportunity to earn a professional teaching certificate from the State of Florida.
    • Co-creator of Innovative Community Learning (ICL) an entrepreneurial, self-sustainable center affiliated with the University that generated revenue through professional development and products offered to K12 teachers and leaders and those who teach K12 teachers and leaders. Prior to joining Studer Education, ICL became a nationally recognized research and development center for providing K12 innovations and solutions.
    • Pilcher has published over 50 research articles, several books, and has trademarked online tools that help leaders and teachers improve their performance. She received and led over 17 million dollars of grants and contracts, earning her recognition as an Inaugural member of the University’s Research Hall of Fame.

    In 2010, Dr. Pilcher left the University to found Studer Education, the education division of Studer Group. During her tenure leading the division, Janet has been awarded two Studer Group Pillar Awards. The Pillar Award is given quarterly to employees whose performance stands out as a demonstration of Studer Group values and/or creates very good results that positively impact one or more of Studer Group’s Pillar goals. This is a very special award that signifies long-term, sustained results and constant role-modeling of our Standards of Behavior in everything they do. Dr. Pilcher earned Pillar Awards for leading the Education team to Level 5 results across all the division’s pillars (Service, Quality, Growth, Finance, People, and Community), for example, EBIDTA growth of more than one million dollars in a 2-year time period, representing how she leads a team to be good stewards of resources.

    Today, Dr. Pilcher spends most of her time coaching executive leaders in higher education and the Studer Education team to achieve high performing results.
