What if you could change your life?

What if you could change your life? “Well, you can,” says Special Education teacher Serena Matarazzo. “If you think that you are not contributing enough to the betterment of society or wondering how you could make a difference, consider inspiring young minds!” She writes, “You can be a teacher. You can inspire young minds and make the change you wish to see in the world.  Not certified? No worries. No time for school? That’s cool.  Are you an old dog scared to try new tricks?  It’s all good.”

How is this possible? It’s called an alternative certification program and many colleges and universities offer them. You only have to have your bachelor’s degree in order to apply. And your degree can be in just about anything. It does not have to be even related to education. And, many alternative certification programs consider your qualifications or your life experience in the admissions process. This means what you bring to the table could make you an excellent candidate to be a teacher.  There are a ton of different programs to choose from, so Serena advises, “do your research.”

Bottom line? Choosing to teach is a life altering choice… for you and for the students you will reach.
