As part of Military Appreciation Month, TeacherReady is celebrating military personnel who choose to serve again by becoming a classroom teacher. Close to 900 active duty, reserve, and retired military personnel or their family members are currently enrolled in TeacherReady or have earned their professional teaching certificate through TeacherReady. Retired Army officer Heatherann Bozeman is a high school teacher.
TeacherReady works with Troops to Teachers and Veterans Affairs; in addition, we work with MyCCA and the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, all of which provide their own teaching assistance for eligible individuals affiliated with their branch of service and who are enrolled in TeacherReady.
During Military Appreciate Month and throughout the year, we salute the work of our military men and women and their family members. We appreciate the opportunity to offer them and others interested in a career transition to the teaching profession a quality, state-approved, and nationally accredited teacher certification program to get there.
Troops to Teachers (TTT) was established in 1994 as a Department of Defense program. Troops to Teachers helps active duty, career-seeking veterans, and retired military transition into teaching. Troops to Teachers mentors candidates and offers stipends of up to $5,000 to eligible participants for educational assistance to qualify for teaching jobs. Northwest Florida Veterans interested in teaching may contact Troops to Teachers at 850-452-1241 or visit http://ProudToServeAgain.com.
TeacherReady is the state-approved Educator Preparation Institute of the NCATE/CAEP accredited Professional Education Unit at the University of West Florida. Upon completion of TeacherReady, individuals earn a professional teaching certificate from the State of Florida.
