Instructor: Julie Kunselman, Ph.D.
Julie Kunselman earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Gannon University and a Master’s of Public Administration and Ph.D. in Urban and Public Affairs from the University of Louisville. She has been an educator and leader for nearly twenty years beginning her career as a high school mathematics teacher in Arkansas through Teach For America and later as a middle school math teacher in Kentucky. In 2012, she left the academy as a tenured full professor after serving in several administrative capacities including department chair and associate dean. At the collegiate-level Julie taught courses in research, policy, organizational theory, and leadership and administration. She continues to write and has published more than 25 articles in areas of leadership and administration, public policy, and student engagement and pedagogy, as well as coauthored three textbooks: Research Methods in Criminal Justice (Charles C. Thomas), Statistical Analysis in Criminal Justice and Criminology: A User’s Guide (Waveland), and Juvenile Justice Today (Prentice Hall). She has also contributed to more than 20 monographs, grants, and community research partnerships.
