What are field experiences?

TeacherReady® has field experiences embedded throughout the seven instructional lessons. These field experiences provide the opportunity for you to apply what you learn through online instruction, assignments and readings. The field experiences range from observations, interviews, attendance at meetings, tutoring, teaching a class, and substituting in classrooms to the culminating experience (teaching five consecutive full days in your mentor’s classroom).

The TeacherReady staff will work to place you with a mentor teacher in your area of certification and in your location. The mentor teacher will be your support person for scheduling your field experiences and working in the classroom. Schedule to be in the mentor’s class for 2 to 3 hours a week for the first four lessons. Then as you approach the culminating field experience the hours will increase to 4 to 5 hours a week.
