What are certification exams?

The state of Florida has 3 required certification exams (FTCE). To complete the TeacherReady program, you must successfully complete the three state required certification exams:

• General Knowledge—Essay, English Language Skills, Reading,Math
• Subject Area Exam—If you are interested in middle school or high school teaching, you should be prepared to take this test now (math, science,etc.). If you are interested in teaching elementary, we recommend that you complete the field experiences before taking the test.
• Professional Knowledge—TeacherReady prepares you for this test so it should be taken at the end of the program.
